Real value for opinions that earn it
Nervus runs on Coins and Gems: Coins are what people spend, Gems are what creators earn. Here's exactly how the two connect, and what it takes to become an eligible, withdrawing creator.
Coins vs Gems
Coins
What you buy and spend to take part.
- Purchased (with occasional bonus/free Coins)
- Spent creating paid Nerves, Backing, Countering, voting, or gifting in Banter
- Not withdrawable
Gems
What eligible creators earn.
- Earned when others spend Coins on qualifying actions on your content, after platform fees
- Free or bonus Coins never generate withdrawable Gems
- Self-support and manipulated activity never qualify
| Coins | Gems | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The currency you spend | The reward eligible creators earn |
| How you get it | Purchased, plus occasional bonus/free Coins | Earned from qualifying engagement on your Nerves |
| What it's for | Paid Nerves, Back/Counter, voting, Banter gifts | Withdrawing real value once eligible |

The Creator Program
Earning Gems doesn't automatically mean you can withdraw them. Creators need to meet activity and quality milestones first — this is an eligibility gate, not an automatic cash-out.
- Sustained, valuable contributions over time
- A meaningful volume of qualified Back/Counter engagement
- Engagement that passes fraud and manipulation screening
Challenge Mode
Challenge Mode is an optional setting you can turn on when creating a Nerve. It raises the stakes for everyone involved — and in exchange, it can increase your revenue share on qualifying engagement for that Nerve.
